My Creative process
Techniques
Throughout this project, I used soft pastels, paint, and colored pencils to create my pieces. I set out trying to highlight some of the environmental harms in the parks in my pieces. This was attempted through the use of different materials and different colors.
Inspiration
The National Park Service was an enormous inspiration towards me during this project. The entire capstone was devoted to raising awareness towards the environmental issues. This project is almost a love letter to the National Parks. Their website acted as a great source of inspiration and information. In addition, the Grand Canyon Trust website was another source of inspiration in providing examples of how environmental issues can be displayed in art ("Voices for the Colorado Plateau").
Outcomes
Through this project, I set out to inform my audience of issues in the National Parks and offer individual solutions to help aid these problem. As a result, I gained a large amount of information as well and learned new techniques to help reduce my environment footprint in the National Parks, outdoors, and beyond. I am thankful for the opportunity to create art and aim it at something I am passionate about as a means to bring about change.
